Teaching philosophy and mission.

Everyone’s movement journey is different. My goal is to help make it a sustainable, integrative part of everyday life.

In my classes, you can expect a combination of strength and mobility training, breathwork, and meditation — with a focus on creating a lasting movement practice on and off the mat.

This practice is a thoughtful and challenging supplement to any existing movement regimen or a great place to start if you’re looking to bring more movement into your day-to-day.

The discovery component to any movement practice is very important to me, so I encourage you to engage as you would in any classroom. Ask the questions. Everybody is different.

My movement journey.

My name is Emily and my movement journey started in the swimming pool at age seven. Fast forward 12 years and I decided that the daily morning and evening swim practices were just too much for someone who wasn’t going to make the sport their career.

With hours in the pool no longer on the schedule, I needed a way to find a movement foundation that I enjoyed and could do anywhere. One day, I asked my mom if I could borrow the VHS tape I found in a cupboard with a woman in leg warmers and the word “YOGA” across the cover. Very quickly, I realized how valuable the practice is and I was hooked.

I began to dig deeper studying, curating, and developing a practice I can call my own. 14 years later, I’m proud to share this journey with others, thanks to my teachers and my teachers’ teachers.

When I’m not practicing or teaching yoga, I’m geeking out with my medical history books, backpacking in the mountains, or drinking an oversize cup of coffee.

Weave Movement isn’t just a way to get people moving. It’s a dedication to myself and my community to connect more deeply with our bodies by practicing movement in a safe, sustainable, healthy way.

I hope you will join me on the mat!
